A quotation retains something of an earlier voice while taking on meaning in a new setting. In Quotes with Light, three acrylic works from 2016 make illumination the element through which the painted image speaks. Concentrated fields of brightness organize colour, rhythm and depth within tactile surfaces.
These paintings do not use light as theatrical effect. It carries the composition and asks the viewer to look into rather than merely at the image. Their relatively intimate scale, compared with Oraczewski’s monumental works, makes the encounter especially concentrated. The cycle forms a bridge between earlier paintings of mythological and winged figures and the later clarity explored in Claritas.
