Picture of Innocence

White is never an empty background in Picture of Innocence. Its tonal differences, shadows and textured surface become a way of asking what innocence might mean after experience has already left a trace. Brightness is inseparable from vulnerability, and what appears quiet can carry considerable pictorial tension.

Associated with ORAC Gallery’s Warsaw presentation in 2022, this group belongs to Oraczewski’s wider inquiry into the emergence of form and the expressive possibilities of reduced colour. Rather than defining innocence as a fixed moral state, the work offers a space of attention: the viewer discovers nuance where an apparently simple surface first seemed to promise certainty.
