Messengers of Power

Where does strength originate? Messengers of Power refuses the idea that its source must lie somewhere outside the human being. In five large mixed-technique paintings dated 1997, symbolic, often archetypal figures evoke horses, angels and the roots of trees. Their shapes move between recognition and abstraction, suggesting different routes toward a shared question.

The museum catalogue reads these forms in relation to the capacity for inspiration and transformation already present within us. Power is therefore not reduced to domination. It becomes the possibility of acting, creating and giving strength to others. The series is a significant expression of Oraczewski’s belief in human potential, even within an oeuvre attentive to suffering and loss.
