Lights

In Lights, illumination does not merely reveal the painted subject. It actively shapes it. Figures associated with Nike, Pegasus and the bird emerge through colour and layered surfaces, then recede as the eye moves to another part of the composition. Light is both a visual event and a recurring question about perception.

Representative monumental acrylic works from the 1990s make this dynamic especially visible. Mythological forms carry ideas of movement, aspiration and freedom, but their meaning is never detached from the material weight of the paintings.
