Movement in Oraczewski’s work belongs as much to the act of painting as to the figures represented. In Motion brings bodies into fields of gesture, rhythm and directional force. Contours do not always hold; a figure may appear to be forming and dissolving within the same passage of colour.
Representative works dated 1988 and 1996 make this restlessness palpable. Their movement is not a frozen theatrical pose, but a condition of becoming. The body carries effort and the desire to cross its limitations, while the painted surface records the physical actions through which the image was made. Motion becomes a way of thinking about freedom, uncertainty and change.
