The gates in this cycle are closed. Their vivid colour and ornament make the threshold itself more compelling than any imagined view beyond it. Oraczewski turns a familiar architectural motif into a question about passage: what stands between a person and a path that only they can choose?
The works, represented by seven acrylic paintings dated 2010 in the portfolio, can be read as images of inner barriers, memory and the effort required for change. Yet the gate is not merely an obstacle. Its presence gives shape to a possibility. The paintings hold the viewer at the point where the desire for freedom meets an awareness of place, time and personal responsibility.
