For Oraczewski, a collision is not only a clash. It is a moment in which distinct forces retain their identities while producing something neither could achieve alone. In the monumental works of the 1990s and 2000s, figuration encounters abstraction; gestures of flight meet gravity; colour and relief interrupt each other. The viewer follows a field of shifting tensions instead of one prescribed narrative.
Collisions also gave its name to the artist’s monographic exhibition at the National Museum in Kielce (2023–2024), curated by Monika Turczyńska. Seen across his practice, the principle connects painting to installation and private experience to cultural memory. Each encounter leaves the image open to a different reading.
